Today, 3rd October, is National Poetry Day and it therefore seems apt to share a short poem inspired by autumn.

Autumn SongÂ
Â
There is a whisper in the air,
A silky, susurrus sound,
For shout the wind does not dare,
‘til the winter comes around.
Â
Dressed in russet robes, and gold,
The royal, ancient forest kings,
They cannot feel the biting cold,
Though they are whipped by wind.
Â
Dancers of dark October nights,
Spinning through dusky shadow,
Performers too in morning light,
Still free from wintry sorrow.
Â
Restless wind in the forest sighs,
Hurrying the leaves along,
It hums, whispers, sings, cries,
For this is the Autumn’s song.
