Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the Untold Stories Academy. As this is the first blog on this page, I will make things brief by introducing the Academy and telling you a little bit about myself.

I believe in the power of telling stories. My mission is to help writers at all stages of their careers to unlock their imaginations and write their untold stories. I set up the Untold Stories Academy to help and inspire writers of all ages and abilities, through providing creative writing workshops, resources, and editing/mentoring services.

Whatever stage of your writing journey, I am here to help you become a better writer, explore the power of the written word, and achieve your writing dreams.

Over the course of the next few months, I am looking forward to adding new features to the website and to sharing upcoming workshop dates and useful resources. If you are a writer in need of some support, why not explore one of the Untold Stories Academy website pages?

If you'd like to stay up to date, you can easily sign up for my newsletter which will be sent on a monthly basis (I hope!)

Now to tell you a little bit about myself...

I am a young adult fantasy author, educator, editor and writing mentor. I strongly believe in the power of the written word and I am passionate about helping other writers on their creative journeys.

From the age of eight, I knew I wanted to be an author. I wrote countless poems, stories and ‘novels’, spending hours in my bedroom honing my writing craft. At fifteen, I started writing my debut novel The Firestone and rewrote it in later years at university. Shortly after graduating with a degree in English Literature, The Firestone was accepted for publication. Receiving the contract was one of the best moments of my life. I definitely cried!

Alongside the publication of The Firestone, I started working as a freelance English tutor, content writer, and editor (I trained as a copyeditor with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading).

Having run my first creative writing workshop in a school in 2018, I began to steadily increase this side of my work as well.

Now, as the author of three young adult fantasy novels and a fully-fledged editor and workshop leader, I hope to pass my knowledge and passion on to others.

  • My favourite classic books are… Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

  • My favourite children's classic is Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery.

  • My favourite fantasy series is… Dragonkeeper by Carole Wilkinson
